“Hey,” Gerard said when Giovanni picked up the phone.

“How was the trip home?”

“Unexciting,” Gerard answered.

“And your big welcome home?”

“Never happened?” Gerard said. “Some reporters did mob me for pictures and an interview earlier at the party.”

“I’m sure your boss is excited for you.”

“I never got a chance to talk to him. Tory was too busy entertaining his friends and celebrating the debut of his new singers.”

“Ah, poor baby. He had no time for you.”

“I’m not upset,” Gerard said. “I know what it’s like to make a debut. It was their night. We were just invited guests.”

“You didn’t perform?”

“No,” Gerard. “We weren’t scheduled to.”

“So, what are you doing home so early?”

“I got bored,” Gerard admitted.

“I miss you already,” Giovanni said.

“I miss you, too.”

“Go to bed and get some rest. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

“Okay,” Gerard. “Pleasant dreams.” He got off the phone with Giovanni and got out of his suit. He hung it up in a garment bag to take to the cleaners. Luke didn’t call or show up, so Gerard went to bed. He figured the jet lag would be gone by tomorrow and things would be back to normal.
